INTRODUCING NICKI MINAJ: It's safe to say that underground (not so underground any more) rapper Nicki Minaj has won the title of the worlds very first theatrical rapper. She may look unfamiliar to you, but this girl is going places. Mock our words her rap career will take off and will soon become an icon and you'll remember who was the first fashion magazine to introduce her into the industry. She's already captured our attention and it won't be long before the rest of the fashion industry does too. We know she'll be doing major things and setting trends in years to come due to her collision between two different industries: hip-hop and fashion. A gap that's be wanting to be filled. Her sense of transformation to fantasy characters brings rap a whole new fan base: gays, fashionistas, and anime aficionados. Minaj is always wearing creative outfits in her music videos particularly in "Massive Attack" where she wore a leopard unitard and killer sunglasses. It's no wonder she landed a solo cover in the hip-hop industries most popular magazine Vibe.
In her songs, she introduces herself as "It's Barbie" and who's to blame the girl for referencing herself to the infamous Barbie doll? The girl has a body of a Barbie, scratch that, better than a Barbie with all natural curves. Luscious bust and bum, thighs that drive the boys -and girls- crazy, tiny waist and that gorgeous face with high cheek bones that of an Egyptian goddess. Plus, the girl can drop a line making her music not only sexy and tough but feminine and sassy -something that's never been done amongst female rappers.
It's not about being as tough as the boys with Minaj, it's about being a tough girl. She's empowering and exudes femininity and edge.
Pick up your copy when it hits stands June 15 it will become collectors item.
